Our complete story
The journey of USI COLOR DIAMONDS began in 1940, when our founder, Mr. Mohammad Suleman, an accomplished diamond cutter and polisher, established his own diamond cutting and polishing workshop. He specialized in preparing finely crafted diamonds for jewelry and laid the foundation for our family’s enduring connection with the diamond industry.
During the period surrounding India’s independence in 1947, business activities were disrupted and the workshop remained closed for several years. In 1952, as conditions became more stable, Mr. Mohammad Suleman resumed his work and continued developing the family business with dedication, skill, and integrity.
His son, Mr. Usman Ali, learned the complete art of diamond manufacturing directly under his father’s guidance. From an early age, he gained practical experience in diamond planning, bruting, cutting, and polishing. Even before his marriage, he began working alongside his father and became deeply involved in the family profession.
In 1977, Mr. Usman Ali joined the Gemstone Artisan Training School, where he devoted approximately two decades to teaching diamond cutting and polishing. Students from India and overseas attended the institution to acquire professional skills in diamond manufacturing. In recognition of his knowledge, experience, and leadership, he was appointed Head of the Diamond Department.
After the training institution closed, Mr. Usman Ali established an independent diamond workshop together with his sons. By that time, Mr. Mohammad Suleman had passed away, but his knowledge, values, and craftsmanship continued through the next generations.
Today, the family tradition has entered its third generation. Mr. Salman Ali works alongside his father and has developed specialized expertise in natural fancy color diamonds. From an early stage, he accompanied his father to the important diamond markets of Mumbai and Surat, where he learned diamond selection, purchasing, manufacturing, and international trading.
Mr. Salman Ali now manages his own diamond business and workshop, where diamonds are carefully selected, cut, polished, and prepared according to clients’ requirements. Through USI COLOR DIAMONDS, he supplies natural white diamonds and natural fancy color diamonds to customers in India and across international markets.
From Mr. Mohammad Suleman’s original workshop in 1940 to the international work of USI COLOR DIAMONDS today, our journey represents three generations of knowledge, craftsmanship, and commitment.
